EPIC2020 was a truly a global ethnographic jamboree: on the 15th anniversary of our conference, EPIC people gathered across 37 countries and 6 continents. Our conference theme was Scale:
How can we engage, work across, and reframe scale in a world where “bigger, faster, easier, broader” is the prevailing framework? In these times of critical, planet-wide climate, technological, economic, political and social change, SCALE invites us to confront the scope, contexts, and impacts of ethnographic work in creating value in organizations, and sustaining our global futures.
Now you can watch EPIC2020 presentations on demand, and read the full-length papers published in our open-access proceedings.
EPIC2020 articles are FREE to read, download, and share with your colleagues, teams, clients, and in-laws.
Conference video is available to EPIC Members in our video library and includes Keynotes, Panels, Catalysts, Case Studies, PechaKucha, and Tutorials. EPIC Members also come together all year for online events and support the collective work of our global, nonprofit community. Learn more about membership.

All told, EPIC2020 represents the work and passion of nearly 250 people: conference co-chairs Alexandra Zafiroglu and Tania Lewis, program committees, presenters, panelists, tutorial instructors, salon & cohort hosts, and student volunteers. In an extremely difficulty year, these folks created an extraordinary new experience full of learning and connection for all of us. We’re grateful and full of admiration!
Special thanks to Greg Weinstein, the EPIC2020 Proceedings & Accessibility Coordinator, for his hard work under the hood. In addition to the usual herding of cats, dotting of i’s and crossing of t’s, Greg made our conference proceedings more accessible in crucial ways. Thanks to Greg, quality closed captioning is available for videos; images have consistent alt text; and the full proceedings in PDF format has new accessibility features. We’ve learned a lot from him about accessibility and look forward to implementing more of his recommendations in 2021.
Finally, in addition to the conference, we invite you to peruse the EPIC Job Board, read our blog Perspectives, and register for Talks and Courses. If you’d like to write, speak, volunteer, or share your ideas, please get in touch—we’d love to hear from you.
