This is the 20th year of EPIC—the essential conference and community of practitioners who use deep expertise about culture and sociotechnical systems to help organizations make strategic decisions, create value, and navigate uncertainty.
Today we’re excited to release a trove of new expertise and learning resources from 2024. We hope you’ll use and share them, and perhaps take a moment to reflect on the importance of collective learning, experimentation, debate, and innovation for our success as individuals, organizations, and communities.
21 new articles are FREE to read, download, and share
The 2024 edition of our peer-reviewed journal EPIC Proceedings shares the latest expertise and innovations in our field. Thanks to the EPIC Members and volunteers who power our nonprofit organization, EPIC has made this leading work freely available to the public for two decades.
Long-form articles in the Proceedings are selected through competitive peer-review by independent committees and external evaluators. ‘Papers’ bring a wealth of interdisciplinary expertise to bear on concrete applications. By synthesizing, leveraging, critiquing, and adapting a wealth of resources, they offer frameworks and methods we can use to address today’s challenges. ‘Case Studies’ are deep dives that take us under the hood of projects that created demonstrable value for organizations. They offer practical takeaways we can apply across a range of contexts, as well as influential examples we can use to advocate for our work and our teams.

It’s All about EPIC People
EPIC makes magic but it happens through hard work. More than 200 members of our nonprofit community dedicated their time and expertise to coordinating, presenting, facilitating, organizing, mentoring, reviewing, and countless activities large and small. A great way to thank them is to get involved next year!
- EPIC2024 co-chairs Carrie Yury and Lee Cesafsky sustained their vision, creativity, elbow grease, generosity, passion, and humor through the long journey of conference leadership. We are enormously grateful for their leadership.
- Program committee chairs led the development of the conference program: Shaheen Amir & Juliana Saldarriaga (Papers), Autumn Sanders & Anna Wojnarowska (Case Studies), Robin Kwong & Bridget Monahan (PechaKucha), Karl Mendonca & Rebekah Park (Artistic Interventions), Makalé Faber Cullen & Jennifer Giroux (Interactive Experiences), Rachel Ceasar, Renee Ho & Josef Wieland (Graduate Colloquium); Abbas Jaffer (Salons)
- Also essential to the program are our many committee members, anonymous peer reviewers, curators, session discussants, and many people who provided on site support of all kinds.
- These excellent folks supported the editing and publication of 2024 video and articles: Ea Arnoldi, Jenny Callans, Johanna Hauterville, Patricia Machado, Monica Romano, and Joshita Yadav.
